# Monel Alloy 400 Plate General Information Monel 400 heat treatment needs to be carried out in an atmosphere
that is sulfur-free reducing. The range of annealing for the heat
treatment of Monel 400 is between temperatures of 1300 to 1800 °F.
Albeit, the most typical temperature range at which the heat
treatment of Monel 400 can be carried out is between 1600 to 1800
°F. The Tensile Strength (annealed) of Monel 400 is 75-90 ksi
(517-620 MPa). The Yield Strength of Monel 400 is 25-50 ksi
(172-345 MPa). Monel 400 Modulus of Elasticity is 26000 ksi (179
GPa). The Poisson’s ratio of Monel 400 is 0.32.
# Monel Alloy 400 Plate Casting Grade Monel 400 casting grade varies and the truth is that in the past
few years, a lot of work has been put in, in the development of
improving the properties of the casting grades of Monel, by using
silicon in an increased quantity. By differing the amount of
silicon that is being used, the hardness of the castings of Monel
can be increased. The main reason for increasing the amount of
silicon, is as a result, Monel is obtained that is non-galling or
non-selzing. This super alloy Monel 400 is available in some very
typical shapes such as plate, sheet, pipe, round, tube, strip,
hexagon and wire.
# Monel Alloy 400 Plate Material Properties Alloy 400 material properties is that it has a Chemical Composition
of Carbon, C 0.3% max, Copper, Cu 28-34%, Manganese, Mn 2% max,
Silicon, Si 0.5% max, Iron, Fe 2.5% max, Sulphur, S 0.024% and
Nickel, Ni remainder. The Density of Alloy 400 is 0.318 lb/in3 (8.8
gm/cm3). Monel 400 has many applications such as, oil well recovery
pumps, chlorinated solvents, marine components, crude oil
distillation towers, wire netting for insulation, salt production,
salt residual compounds, ethyl chloride purification, shafting,
marine splash zone sheathing, HF alkylation, MEA reboilers, HF
reboilers, etc.
